Juan Portella is a Bronx-based Mambo Maestro with over 30 years of experience teaching, performing and preserving the authentic On-2 style made popular in New York City by the Eddie Torres who is Juan’s mentor.
Juan is a community leader who has trained thousands of dancers, many who have gone on to become professional dancers. His teaching style is know for its clarity, passion and emotional connection, blending technical precision with a deep respect for Salsa’s cultural roots.
Salsa is not just Juan’s profession it is his family legacy. His wife, Caridad, sons and daughter are all Mamberos and together they represent a multigenerational commitment to the art form. Cache serves as a pillar of the salsa community fostering discipline, confidence and cultural pride.
